Azymuth – Self Titled

Every now and then I come across records that are just too good to go through and chop up for my own use. Sometimes, good music just needs to be left alone. Periodically, I’ll be posting up records that are too good to chop up. Here’s Part 1.

This one dropped in 1975 if I’m not mistaken. Pure HEAT. If your into smoothed out Synth work, and A LOT of Fender Rhodes, this is that record for you. The group only consists of 3 (sometimes 4) musicians from Brazil who capture this indescribable sound that’s just brilliant to me. There’s tons of open keys on this record, but for some reason, my conscience tells me to leave them alone. It’s damn near impossible to find this joint(or any of their releases) on vinyl; especially in the states but I’m going to keep my hopes up. Ironically, the other day I found one of their later albums “Telecommunication” (ON VINYL) in my fathers good stash of records. Great piece of work as well.

I definitely need more Azymuth in my collection. Right now I’m only working with “Light As A Feather”…one of their later releases from ’79. Real chill sound.
